Let's be honest - how many times did it happen that you visited a website or read a brochure or other info material and you didn't find a single typo or grammar error in the entire text? ... Hinweise zum Ablauf

Üblicherweise ist bei zu lektorierenden oder zu korrigierenden Texten der Ablauf nach Auftragserteilung wie folgt:
Sie lassen mir die digitale Version des zu bearbeitenden Textes zukommen, entweder als Anhang per E-Mail, oder bei größeren Dateien über Dropbox oder auf einem Datenträger, deren Erhalt ich Ihnen per E-Mail bestätige. Zugelassene Formate sind .doc, .docx, .odt.
Ich überarbeite den Text im Korrekturmodus, und nach Erledigung des Auftrags erhalten Sie von mir drei Dateien im jeweiligen Ausgangsformat:

• eine mit dem verbesserten und kommentierten Text im Word- oder OpenOffice-Korrekturmodus, damit Sie die von mir vorgenommenen Änderungen nachverfolgen können
• eine Datei mit dem Text, in dem die Änderungen übernommen sind, jedoch eventuelle Anmerkungen und Kommentare am Rand stehen

• eine finale Datei, in der alle Änderungen eingearbeitet und die Kommentare gelöscht sind.

Bei Übersetzungen senden Sie mir ebenfalls den Text in digitaler Form zu, (Word-Dokument, OpenOffice-Dokument, .pdf oder .ppt) und erhalten von mir eine Datei mit dem übersetzten Text im gewünschten Format.

Bei Auftragsvergabe wird eine Anzahlung in Höhe von 30% des vereinbarten Preises fällig.

Information on the General Procedure

After you've placed an order for a copyediting or proofreading, the usual procedure is as follows:
You kindly send me a digital version of the text you want me to optimize, either via e-mail or, with larger files, via Dropbox, WeShare and the like, and I'll confirm the receipt via e-mail. Admitted file-formats are .doc, .docx and .odt.
I revise and edit your text in the respective program's correction mode, and after completion you will receive three files with your edited text in the same file format as the original:

• one with the improved text with annotations and comments in "correction mode", which makes it easy for you to track all changes I made to the original document

• one file with the edited, optimized and finalized text, but with comments and annotations

• one "final" edited version without any comments or annotations.

If you need a translation of a text, the procedure is basically the same, with the exeption that the selection of file types in which you can send the original texts and receive the translation is less restricted: you can choose between .doc, .docx, .odt, .pdf, and editor format.

Upon order placement an advance payment/deposit of 30% of the total agreed price becomes due.

Preise/Prices
Die Preise für ein Lektorat bzw. Korrektorat sind abhängig von Seitenzahl und Ausgangszustand des Textes und dem gewünschten Umfang der Dienstleitung.
Der Seitenpreis für ein Lektorat liegt zwischen 3-6 Euro pro Seite, für ein Korrektorat (nur Verbesserung grammatikalischer und orthografischer Fehler sowie Korrektur der Interpunktion)  zwischen 2 und 3 Euro.

Als Berechnungsgrundlage für den Umfang eines Textes lege ich die Normseite à 1500 Zeichen ohne Leerzeichen gemäß der VG Wort zugrunde. Zum Beispiel kann in herkömmlichen Textverarbeitungsprogrammen die Seitenzahl eines beliebigen Textes in 10-Punkt Calibri-Schrift sich von der desselben Textes in  Times New Roman 12-Punkt-Schriftsatz erheblich unterscheiden. Eine Normseite ist daher eine Hilfsgröße, auf die Texte heruntergebrochen werden, um solche formatierungsbedingten Unterschiede in der Seitenzahl bei Textverarbeitungsprogrammen (z. B. durch unterschiedliche Schriftgrößen, Schriftsätze und Seitenformatierungen) in der Berechnung auszugleichen (vgl.  https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normseite) .

Bei Übersetzungsaufträgen ist die Wortzahl des Dokuments in Originalsprache für die Berechnung des Honorars maßgeblich; pro Wort fallen 0,10 Euro an.

The prices for editing and correction of a text respectively vary, depending on the original state of the text and the amount of work it requires, on the number of pages as well as on the extent of the desired service.
I charge between 3 € and 6 € per page for a thorough editing; for proofreading (correction of spelling errors/typos, poor or faulty grammar and punctuation only), the prices are between 1,50 € and 3,- € per standard page.

As a basis for calculating the actual extent of a text, I apply the auxiliary concept of a "standard page" with 1,500 charactes (without spaces) in accordance with VG Wort. For instance, the number of pages in a given text written in 10 pt Calibri may differ considerably from the one of the same text set in 12 pt Times New Roman or Arial font. In order to make up for these differences caused by page formatting (e. g. different fonts or font sizes, page layout, etc.), the total number of characters (without spaces) in a text is divided by 1500, resulting in a number indicating the standardized page count.

The price for translations depends on the word count of the original document - as a rule, the rate is  0,10 € per word.

*  Der Grund: Auch kurze Texte erfordern Einarbeitung, ich muss mich nicht nur mit dem Sachverhalt vertraut machen, sondern auch mit dem Adressatenkreis des Textes (akademische Arbeit, Websitetext, Blogeintrag, Werbeanzeigen, Brief u.v.m.), von dem jeweils abhängt, wie sich das Endresultat "lesen" sollte. Wenn Sie eine rasche Bearbeitung eines Textes benötigen, dann muss ich vielleicht andere Sachen beiseite legen, an denen ich gerade arbeite, um mich Ihrem dringenderen Anliegen zu widmen. Zudem fällt für jeden noch so kleinen Auftrag ein "Verwaltungsaufwand" an: Ich erfrage Ihre Adresse, erstelle eine steuerkonforme Rechnung und muss darüber Buch führen. Und wenn der tatsächlich anfallende Umfang Ihres Textes (und damit der reine Bearbeitungsaufwand für mich) einen bestimmten Betrag unterschreitet, dann steht der damit in Zusammenhang anfallende Verwaltungsaufwand unter Umständen in keinem sinnvollen zeitlichen Verhältnis zu meinem Honorar. (Ein Beispiel dafür wäre etwa Korrektur/Lektorat einer einzigen Normseite mit einem dafür anfallenden Bearbeitungshonorar zwischen 2 - 6 Euro; mit dessen Bearbeitung an sich bin ich mindestens eine halbe Stunde beschäftigt, mit dem nachgelagerten Rechnungsaufwand noch einmal bis zu 30 Minuten). Das bedeutet konkret für Sie: Solange die tatsächlichen Kosten (auf Zeichenebene für Lektorat oder Korrektorat berechnet, anhand der Wortzahl bei Übersetzungen) für die Dienstleistung den Betrag von 20 Euro unterschreiten, erhebe ich den genannten Mindestbetrag. Wenn diese Kosten gleich oder höher als 20 Euro sind, dann erfolgt die Berechnung des Honorars exakt anhand der oben aufgeführten "Kennzahlen".
